Welcome to John Griffin Middle School, a “North Carolina School to Watch,” where continuous student achievement is our goal. Through a partnership with parents, community, and business leaders, we are committed to serving a diverse population of over 950 students by providing a safe, nurturing environment. All students are engaged in challenging academic assignments and extracurricular activities that foster high academic growth. Furthermore, students are encouraged to become self-directed, lifelong learners and productive members of society. 

As we strive for continuous improvement at John Griffin Middle School, the faculty and staff constantly seek professional growth opportunities to lead the current transition to Common Core State Standards. We do our best to provide a comprehensive educational program that increases student achievement and performance.

Progress Reports

announceProgress Reports will be going home to all students on Tuesday, December 3rd. They will include grades for the 2nd 9 weeks.


Parent Portal Now Available!

parentportalThe Parent Portal is now up and running. This is the website that parents can use to view their child’s grades and attendance.  Letters were mailed home Tuesday, 10/29/13, with your student’s access codes. You will use these codes to create an account. Codes are specific to each child. Check out the link titled “Parent Portal” under the Pirate! For more information, check out the “Homebase Parent Portal Support” site under the Parents and Community tab.


Progress Reports

importantProgress Reports will now be going home on Tuesday, October 1st. Due to the intergration of the new statewide student information system called PowerSchool, an extention was given to all teachers for inputting grades. Please note this new date. Progress Reports will now be going home to all students on Tuesday, October 1st. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.



We are in full testing mode at JGMS! 8th graders take the EOG Science test on 5/21 and 5/22 . EOG Math and Language Arts Testing for all grades will be 5/29-5/31. The Algebra 1 EOC will be on 6/4 for 8th graders. Please ensure that all students are present on testing days. Please make sure they get a good night sleep and a good breakfast. Good luck to all students!


Little Miss Jack Britt Pageant

The Little Miss Jack Britt Pageant will be on Saturday, Feb. 16th at 6:00 pm. There are three categories: Tiny Miss (grades K-2), Little Miss (grades 3-5) and Junior Miss (grades 6-8).  Applications are available online (see link below) or in the JGMS Front Office. Girls currently enrolled in the Jack Britt district and are in grades K-8 are allowed to participate. Please read the flyer below for more information. Good luck to all participants!

Progress Reports!

We are halfway through the first 9 weeks! Progress Reports will be sent home with all students on Friday, Sept. 28th! Make sure you go over your child’s grades. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the school at (910) 424-7678.
