Sharon Cooper M.D./guest speakerJohn Griffin Middle School  will be hosting a very special event here at on THURSDAY, February 7th from 6:30 p.m to 8:00 p.m during our Parent Advisory Committee meeting.  The topic of this presentation is “Digital Addiction in Children and Teens and the Effects on their Developing Brains.”

Dr. Sharon Cooper, world-renown forensic pediatrician, will be giving a presentation entitled, “Digital Addiction in Children and Teens and the Effects on their Developing Brains.”

 

 

 

Dr. Cooper is a Developmental and Forensic Pediatrician, who is a consultant and Board member of National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. She is also a member of the Expert Working Group of Children who Experience Violence in Cyberspace.  She lectures nationally and internationally; she has spoken at the European Commission on a safer internet and she is the lead author of one of most comprehensive texts on child sexual exploitation.

She was appointed by Attorney General Eric Holder to serve as a member on the Defending Childhood-Children Exposed to Violence Report.  Dr. Cooper has a great deal of information for parents on brain development and the digital age in young people.

Come out and find out why Silicon Valley engineers are now building digital free schools for their children and why Apple is being sued by a California school system for designing software that is addictive to students.  We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, February 7th at John Griffin Middle School from 6:30 to 8:00 for this very special presentation.  Please note, this is only for adults so please leave the children at home.
